o Engine physically in the vehicle was a turbo (19J) from a July 1989 Defender block number. 19J23391 C. This was just a couple months before the 200 TDI was on the assembly line.
o All parts used for the rebuild are for the turbo engine. For example, piston rings with a larger gap.
o The injector cups are new. This is significant because non turbo heads would sometimes have the bottom of the cups drilled out when installing a turbo. This can cause overheating of the injectors. The cups are new, and there are no injector tip burning issues.
o The injectors are new, not rebuilt, and are proprietary design by a company in the UK.
o Oil pump driveshaft fabricated at machine shop. The old one has some play in it, and they are not available for sale.
o The defender had a “Sand Rover” emblem on the back when it was imported (in the console). He said “Sand Rovers” were used in North Africa.
